What do our Flood Risk Assessments cover?

Our detailed, site-based FRAs can include:

  • Consult with the local flood authority and the Environment Agency when needed.
  • Visit the site to look around and take photos (if required).
  • Check past flood records for the site and nearby areas.
  • Assess flood risks from rivers and streams, both large and small.
  • Look closely at risks like overflow, breaches, or the need for flood storage (when relevant).
  • Suggest ways to reduce flood risk and list any required permissions.
  • Check other possible flood sources, such as surface water, groundwater, drainage, or sewers.

As part of our FRA, we also provide a Drainage Impact Assessment at no extra cost, which includes:

  • Perform basic calculations to determine whether the site needs on-site water storage (attenuation).
  • Check site investigation reports and soakaway/percolation test results to understand how well the ground absorbs water.
  • Estimate how much rainwater currently flows off the site.
  • Follow the Building Regulations drainage hierarchy to select the most appropriate drainage method.
  • Assess which SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems) are suitable for the site’s drainage plan.
  • Prepare any required drawings for outline or full planning applications.
  • Run hydraulic modelling of the proposed drainage system, if needed.
